Decimal, Inc. Breaking New Ground in Innovative Combinations:
Financial Services and Award Winning Creative Design
Single(k) campaign wins prestigious Mercury Honor Award
SAN FRANCISCO (March 22, 2005) – Decimal, Inc., (www.theonline401k.com), known for The Online 401(k) and Single(k), is the leading provider of full-service Web-based 401(k) plans for small and single-person businesses. The company is successfully creating a unique and exciting brand that breaks the mold of what is expected for a company in the 401(k) business. Decimal, Inc., in collaboration with Skaggs Advertising + Design, is the winner of an esteemed Mercury Honor Award for its design of a recent direct mail campaign for its single-person retirement solution, Single(k).
The Mercury Honor Award honors outstanding achievement in professional communications, which includes publications, interactive media, magazines, newsletters, press kits, promotion, videos and publicity. With participation from more than 13 countries, the Mercury Award is highly coveted, and particularly unexpected from a company in an industry that is typified by conservative traditional branding.
Decimal, Inc. targets small businesses in need of a 401(k) retirement plan. In light of the competitive 401(k) market, the direct mail campaign had to be very strong and able to attract immediate interest in order to stand out. Josh Kamler, a copywriter (www.jckamler.com) and Decimal, Inc. came up with the concept of finding a lifelong soul mate – it’s just like finding the right retirement plan that you can count on and spend the rest of your life with – Single(k). Skaggs then designed the three-part postcard campaign based on this concept.
"We were able to create a campaign that heightened awareness of Single(k) and drew crowds at conferences. It reflected the lighter side and simplicity of our brand, and set us apart from other financial services companies," stated Chad Parks CFP® and CEO, Decimal, Inc.
Decimal, Inc. gives a fresh perspective on what some perceive to be a daunting decision or a difficult process. For small business clients in 50 states, they have shown that starting a 401(k) plan is a key milestone in planning for future years and that clients don’t have to be burdened with complicated jargon or overwhelming complexities related to hidden-fees. The Mercury Honor Award is just one example of how Decimal, Inc. is effectively communicating that planning for retirement can be a simple, approachable and fun journey.
