Art & Entertainment

The deYoung Fine Arts Museum, a copper Mayan-temple in the middle of Golden Gate Park, is in itself something to see. Views from the Legion of Honor are beautiful too.
Modern art at its finest is found in downtown San Francisco at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). Peruse the museum gift shop for a unique treasure or a souvenir. The building itself stands out from the rest!
Visit one of the largest Western museums dedicated exclusively to Asian Art and culture at the Asian Art Museum.
Can’t decide what to do – go bowling, play a game of billiards or see a movie? Head to the Metreon and do all three!

Recreation
Many parks are close and accessible to San Francisco if you need an escape to nature. Here are some of The Online 401(k)’s favorite places for a hike, picnic or a day trip getaway:
Land's End is a great trail run along the Pacific Ocean with views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Baker Beach, Marin Headlands and the Presidio. Afterwards you can head to the Cliff House for a drink overlooking the ocean.
The Mountain Play atop Mt. Tamalpais in Mill Valley, is a great outdoor theater with amazing views where you can have a picnic while enjoying one of their many plays. You can choose to take a bus up to the top, or hike the trail if you’re feeling adventurous. Either way, this is a great way to spend the day with both friends and family.
Just north of the Golden Gate, you’ll find the famous Muir Woods. Here you can embark on one of the many hikes these woods have to offer and there are lots of spots to enjoy a picnic.
Looking for panoramic views in a natural setting? Take a ferry to Angel Island, often referred to as the "jewel of the San Francisco Bay," and hike (or rent bikes to ride) around the island while taking in views of the entire bay area! This makes for a memorable day trip. Be sure to bring a picnic – and your camera!
Interested in great wine, delicious food, and wonderful spas? In Napa Valley you’ll experience all of this and then some, from wine tasting to hot air ballooning to golfing, wine country has something for everyone! It’s a short drive from San Francisco and it’s a must see.
